AMJ headshot - April M_edited.jpg

April is a doctoral candidate at The University of Alabama pursuing a degree in educational research with a specialization in qualitative methodology. Her research interests and paradigms are influenced by her identity as a woman of color in the United States and her experiences as a licensed clinical social worker interacting with professionals and youth/families in the juvenile justice and social service systems. April pursues scholarly opportunities that will challenge her methodologically and provide thought-provoking, interesting ways to study phenomena. As a future academic and researcher, April plans to utilize her qualitative research doctoral degree to meaningfully explore the experiences of marginalized, underrepresented, and historically oppressed populations. Aside from her scholarly endeavors, April enjoys reading fiction books, listening to music, creating new memories through travel, and watching the uninhibited freedom of dogs at play.
